Wow, sorry its so hard and it sounds really, really hard. I am also sorry some random guy felt like it was OK to judge you when you were doing your best for your kids.

I hope that you get the resources needed - its frustrating to me that they are not more readily available and that you were not offered the support needed for a successful transition with the girls settling into your home.

How is T4 doing?

Again, sorry to hear how hard thing have been. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. I think our colds are winding down..

I think being together is one of the most satisfying things ever about parenting. It sounds like you are doing a terrific job!!!!

I love nothing more than cuddling, making art and hanging out with my kids. Though trips to the pumpkin patch, kindergym an elsewhere are also great.

It sounds like you nailed it with the focus on "attention" - I think kids (and a lot of adults) find that the most gratifying; especially when from folks as intentional and loving as yourselves.

Bedtime- wow, that is a struggle for many of us parents - my two year old (who use to go down with nary a squawk) can drag it out for hours and hours... Unfortunately, all my fantastic progressive discipline, non-violent communication parenting books- not so super helpful at each juncture.... especially this one.

So happy your family is settling in so well... Congrats on being such a great and thoughtful mom so soon into parenting...

Hiya, I have been wanting to comment for the longest time- just no spare moment to get registered on WP.

Congratulations. I am so excited for you and have been avidly reading the updates. We also had an expedited process with our foster experience. We also have totally inconsistent information on the kids and the birth parents and ultimately found our own baselines for things like development, health, etc.

We were told our little one was 'probably blind' and 'delayed' and Hep C positive - she is none of those things... Just saying, that the incredible fragmentation of care creates a story that can create pathologies where there are none, or in the case of oldest- a portrait of health when there are actual chronic medical conditions...

Regardless, its a great experience and I am so happy we are foster parents who get to adopt. We heard so many horror tales and its been a great experience...

Good luck!!!

Hi Jessica, Thanks so much for your comment and for checking my blog out. It looks like you have one, too. I will subscribe and when I figure out how to link to other blogs, I will love to add yours, too.

Many of the others that we met in classes have bio kids, sometimes young, sometimes grown. It has been amazing to us to see the diversity of folks that are making this choice (many single parents, too!)

All the best,

DeAnna

I love reading your motivation, as ours is so similar. We have 3 kid already, and want to help out a child in need. I also looked into other forms of adoption, but foster to adopt seems right for us. The hardest thing is listening to other people's concerns about it. We have weighed the pros and cons and still feel strongly about it. Good luck to you!

Hey, My first comment! Yes, U...this is the blog I was telling you about. I have been very bad about using it for the past few weeks, but I am back.

I absolutely agree that the Hummer vs Prius argument is not actually the best. I think that the "overall energy cost" of creating and running the vehicle is a bit confused with the environmental questions, I mean, doesn't what kind of energy that is being used ultimately matter?

Nonetheless, I love the Hummer example because people are so quick to make fun of them and spit on them while they are so quick to roll around in a field of flowers around a Prius. I think it is an emotional point, rather than a practical one.

Thanks for stopping by, U!

Hi D.

1. Is this the blog you were talking about?
2. I get the concept of using the extreme example of Hummer vs Prius. Given how central to everything oil is, I am not sure it holds up.
A better comparison might be Prius vs. a high-mileage conventional engine car such as the Honda Civic, the Toyota Corolla or the Toyota Yaris. As regards the bullet points, 1) none require fancy batteries 2) they are all demonstrably very long-lived cars and 3) all three use standard parts.
